چکیده
Introduction: Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) is a simple, safe, very low-cost and rapid procedure for diagnostic purpose which makes surgical intervention exploratory laparotomy unnecessary. The introduction of modern imaging techniques, mainly ultrasonography (USG) Computerized Tomography (CT), has enabled the detection location lesions in sites such as liver, are not easily accessible to biopsies.
Aim: To assess utility FNAC diagnosis liver lesions. study cytomorphological features, age sex distribution lesions.
Materials methods: included 24 were detected clinically or radiologically. USG guided FNA was done all cases. smears stained with Haematoxylin eosin (H E), May Grunwald Giemsa (MGG) Papanicolaou’s stains. A cyto-histopathological correlation wherever possible. From residual material, additional slides cell blocks prepared. Special stains used whenever required. In doubtful cases immunohistochemistry (IHC) on formalin-fixed paraffin immunocytochemistry conventional necessary possible.
Results: All found be malignant. Out cases, maximum seen females affected group malignancies 51-60 years. 20 metastatic 4 primary Among adenocarcinoma hepatocellular carcinoma. Conclusion: needle aspiration cytology repeatable procedure. case hepatic lesions, it outmost advantage recognizing nature lesion i.e., primary, well early so that patient can treated
